What is your general opinion on the class so far? ** It seems like we really don’t get much done in these classes; most people do homework outside of lectures anyways because it all feels like common knowledge (at least from what I’ve seen). **

What are your thoughts on the lectures? ** The professor is very good at providing examples and answering questions, but it’s hard to keep up because he doesn’t go slowly enough. It would also be nice if he did a little more pre-lecture material so we can get prepared beforehand. **

How do you feel about homework in this class? ** Homework isn’t too bad; it gives us time to work through problems that were difficult during lecture or ask for help with anything we didn’t understand from our peers (which is often..). One thing I don’t like though is when there aren’t any instructions – just an example program and all of the code already written! One thing about this course that makes the class very difficult is when we don’t practice working on our own for homework or labs; many of us are used to having someone right there next to them telling them what they need to be doing (usually with hand holding). This has caused problems in other classes where students haven’t been able to work independently, so it was good that IntroToProgramming had reviews each week – these really helped show everyone how much progress they were making. It also made the whole “getting help from your peers” system better because review time allowed people
