If you are one of the many hunters in America who shoots a shotgun, it is important to know how to pattern your gun. This will help you determine what ammunition works best for each different hunting situation. Shotguns come with an assortment of choke patterns that can be used for different purposes. In this blog post, we will discuss some common shotgun patterns that will work well for any hunter’s needs!
-the cylinder choke pattern is the most basic shotgun for hunting purposes. It has a round, uniform spread that would work well to take down small prey such as rabbits or squirrels. This type of ammunition is also used in self-defense situations and when you want to protect your home from intruders!
-The improved modified choke provides gunners with a medium range shooting power that’s perfect for taking out larger game like deer or elk. The best part about this particular ammo? You can use it during any season without hesitation because it will not affect your aim while utilizing different chokes!

Shotgun patterns are not something we typically think about, but they can play a big role in how effective your shotgun is. There’s more to it than just the choke size you install on your barrel. Shotgun patterning gives us a way of quantifying how our gun will perform with different loads and cloth targets used for test firing, which helps hunters understand their firearm better and reduce wasted ammo costs.
In this blog post I want to go over some common patter types that hunters use when patterning shotguns: open, full, modified/improved cylinder (M/IC), improved modified (IM) or super-full turkey hunter (FT).
Open Pattern : The most widely used type by both competitive shooters and hunters alike. Typically, shotgunners will use an open pattern and have a field of fire that’s at least 40 yards wide. : The most widely used type by both competitive shooters and hunters alike. Full Pattern : A full duck or turkey hunter is the widest available in terms of choke style with little to no constriction on the barrel – typically just the size bore – which provides for excellent patterns over long distances from multiple angles without altering your shot placement much (or at all). This could be considered ideal if you shoot out past 50-55 yards while sitting still during hunting season but want maximum spread
